Blu Ray uses the full high definition technology and so offers a stunning picture quality and they also have a huge capacity and so can hold a massive amount of high definition content. A Blu Ray player uses a blue violet laser which can pinpoint information that is stored at an incredibly small small size and this is what gives the Blu Ray discs their huge capacity; the discs are the same size as a DVD but the information is much smaller and so much more can be stored on the disc.

Sony are the main company behind Blu Ray and did allot of the development, there are also other brands of Blu Ray player available though which include Samsung, LG, Sharp and Panasonic although Sony Blu Ray players are sure to be very popular because of the quality that they offer.

Blu Ray is the only choice when it comes to HD movies as most of the film studios support Blu Ray and Blu Ray also has a higher capacity than the HD-DVD format. So it is easily the best choice and there are also a few different ways of getting a Blu ray player; you can buy a stand alone player, a combi player, laptop or the Playstation 3 console which can play the Blu Ray discs.
